iDirect –connection on July 2008 for the Finnish Military EUFOR Forces Headquarters, that are part of EU crisis management operations authorized by UN Security Council. That advanced system is to support the Finnish Military to better communicate with the Operations
Headquarters in Paris and with Finnish Brigades, improving significantly the operational activities. The installation is made in Abeche in Chad and will be taken into use in September.
Furthermore, Telemar Finland performed successfully a trial of Sailor Fleet Broadband – new, small size equipment for high speed voice and data connections – on FAC Tornio, a missile ship belonging to a Finnish squadron representing the most modern battle systems on the Baltic Sea. The Finnish Navy has just finished its evaluation of Inmarsat’s new FleetBroadband service aboard the Missile FAC Tornio.
